The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to scuttle and temper with the already announced results of the Sanga House of Assembly rerun election that held on yesterday, 25th January, 2020.
The party raised the allegation in a statement on Sunday, 26th January, 2020, signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Albera Kato.
The PDP had earlier disclosed that the APC was deploying arm thugs to disrupt the conduct of the Saturday’s elections.
But the PDP statement said: “Information reaching us from the APC camp revealed that the APC top notchers are having a clandestine meeting to scuttle and temper with the already announced results of Sanga rerun elections held yesterday, won by the PDP and her Candidate, Rt Hon Comfort Amwe, as announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
“We call on all security agencies and Civil Rights Organisations (CSOs) and the general public to take note of this desperation of the APC/Government House and enemies of democracy, if unchecked can lead to break down of law and order and cause havoc to our fragile democracy and cause dissatisfaction to the public, should the APC go ahead with their planned shortchanging of the already announced results of Sanga State Constituency rerun elections, held yesterday, 25th January,2020, by the INEC.
“We are keenly watching as events unfold and shall defend our mandate with all that we’ve got, within the armbit of the law. Our Party, the PDP, will not fold its arms and watch the people’s mandate shortchanged,” the party vowed.
As at the time of filling this report, the APC is yet to make an official statement concerning the allegation.
