APC State Chairmen Have Not Been Inaugurated -Abe

Leader of a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has declared that the national leadership of the party was yet to inaugurate it’s state chairmen.

Abe, who made the clarification in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the party was still working to resolve issues across the state chapters to ensure electoral victory.

The senator stated that it is only after such efforts have been concluded that inauguration can take place, maintaining also that they were only given certificates of return.

He said: “No chairman in the country has been inaugurated. They were given certificates of return. The party is still working to resolve issues across the state chapters in other to ensure that the party is strengthened across the country for electoral victory.
After that effort is concluded inauguration will then take place.

“Inauguration is not the swearing in of a new government, that can only take place after victory in the general election.

“Serious politicians understand that party structure is just one of the foundational building blocks to electoral victory. If Rivers APC establishes a structure that will certainly result in electoral failure (I pray that we do not), there will be nothing to celebrate.

“The difference is that they were not inaugurated and Committees have been set up across the country to review the challenges facing the different state chapters where such challenges exist. That is the reality in the party this morning.”

Abe stated that even if there was an inauguration, it would not solve the crisis rocking the party in Rivers State, adding that the emergence of Chief Emeka Beke as the party’s Chairman in the state will not make any difference.

“To the best of my knowledge there was no charge to any chairman to go and inaugurate local government chapters.
Let us be clear, even if there is an inauguration, it will not solve the problem in Rivers state.

“The minister (Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi) has been in charge of the APC party structure Rivers state from Ibiamu to date. Chief Beke being inaugurated as chairman will make no difference to the party here.

“The reality of Rivers APC is that people were unjustly excluded from the party, indirectly expelling members by pronouncement without process. The APC in Rivers State cannot embark on any meaningful journey without addressing that issue.

“The sooner we all sober up like mature politicians and address the issue the better for us. Clearly, delay is dangerous, you cannot talk exactly the same way, act exactly the same way you approached the issue in previous elections and expect a different result.

“Without mincing words the party in Rivers State is gearing up for another round of failure if we do not act wisely and with humility. We all need to think and act differently”.
