The five positive cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kaduna state on Sunday have some almajirai among them, authority say.
This is to show the world that the disease has already spread to community level.
It was gathered that contacts of the new cases are being trace while the infected persons are monitored.
The almajirai, it was gathered, were repatriated from Kano state. This bring the total number of people in Kaduna State that are positive for Coronavirus to nine.
A statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Health, Dr Amina Mohammed Baloni, said that the new cases have been moved to the Infectious Disease Control Centre (IDCC) for treatment.
She said the medical professionals are treating the infected persons with high standard expressing optimism they will soon recover.
The commissioner said that the testing capacity of the state has improved with the establishment of two laboratories in Zaria and Kaduna city.
Meanwhile, security agents enforcing the lockdown order in the state have decried lack of testing kits in various points they are manning.
According to some of the personnel who spoke to Elanza News, they are urgently in need of some testing gadgets in order to reduce the spread of the virus.
“Look at the checkpoints. No testing gadgets. Look at the revellers we stopped. Nothing to test even their temperature. We want the government to provide the gadgets in some strategic locations so that anyone whose temperature is high, should be quarantine for blood testing,” he said.
