The Chairman, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state Mr Peter Danjuma Averik has led a team of Medical Personnel from the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Memorial Hospital Kafanchan to quarantined a lady who just returned from Lagos.
Her friend whom they passed the night together was also taken to an isolation center in the hospital.
To this end, the residents of Kafanchan have been urged to remain calm and not to panic following the rumour of a suspected case of coronavirus in the area.
The council chairman, Mr Peter Danjuma Averik, who led a team of Medical Personnel from the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Memorial Hospital Kafanchan to evacuate the two suspects to an isolation center, lamented the escalation of the rumour concerning the issue.
Averik who said no case can be confirmed until proven by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC), said the situation has been taken care of.
Elanza News reports that some residents of Garaje had earlier wanted to linch the two suspects but the Jema’a LGA chairman came to their rescue.
It was gathered that the rumour started when the lady returned from Lagos and wanted hot water.
Her friend went to their neighbour’s room and requested for water heater. She informed him about her friend’s trip from Lagos to Kafanchan but the neighbour raised an alarm that a coronavirus suspect was in his house.
Some of the residents stormed the house and started throwing stones at the suspects before the Local Government chairman came to their rescue.
Elanza News gathered that patients in the hospital discharged themselves on hearing the two suspected ladies were isolated in the hospital.
“The hospital nearly becomes the shadow of itself. The people need to be enlighten on the issue of this Covid-19, ” an eyes witness said.
The Chief Medical Director, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Memorial Hospital Kafanchan, Dr Samuel Kure, said though the two ladies have not shown any symptoms of COVID 19, added that they have been isolated at the hospital awaiting the team of experts to arrive from Kaduna for their sample.
