Kano State is in mourning following the sudden deaths of two lawmakers in the State House of Assembly within just an hour on Wednesday.
Elanzanews previously reported that Honourable Aminu Sa’adu, who represented the Ungoggo Local Government Area constituency, was the first to pass away after unexpectedly falling ill shortly after arriving at the Assembly. He was rushed to hospital but unfortunately could not be saved. The news of his death sent immediate shockwaves through the state’s political circles.
Barely an hour later, Honourable Sarki Aliyu Daneji, representing the Kano Municipal Local Government Area constituency, also passed away. His death was confirmed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson for the Kano State governor, via his Facebook page. He wrote, “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiun. Honourable Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal at the Kano State House of Assembly, died today an hour after the death of his colleague.”
Both lawmakers were well-regarded for their active participation in legislative duties and their contributions to the state. Their sudden passing has left colleagues, constituents, and observers in deep shock, with tributes and prayers flooding social media.
The Kano State government has yet to provide further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the untimely deaths of the two lawmakers.
