The Zamfara Good Governance Forum has accused Governor Dauda Lawal Dare of orchestrating politically driven evictions at Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara.

In a statement on Friday, the Forum described the removal of three staff members from the Rima River Basin Development Authority Staff Quarters as “unlawful, vindictive and a gross abuse of power.”

The affected officials — Dr Lawal Umar Maradun, Malam Jamilu Hassan and Malam Abdulhakim Yusuf — were reportedly targeted over their perceived loyalty to the All Progressives Congress.

One of them was said to have invested over ₦20m renovating his residence before the eviction notice was served.

The Forum’s Secretary, Comrade Salim Abubakar, accused the governor of weaponising state institutions to “punish perceived opponents” while overlooking defaulters who aligned with him politically.

He said the action violated the Rima Basin Authority and Polytechnic joint housing agreement, which mandates that allocation or revocation of quarters must be handled by a joint committee.

According to him, bypassing the committee amounted to a breach of due process and an attempt to politicise an administrative issue.

The Forum demanded an immediate reversal of the evictions, restoration of the affected occupants and compensation for financial losses.

It also threatened legal action if the governor failed to retrace his steps and apologise publicly for what it called “a dangerous precedent that undermines justice and good governance.”

The group urged relevant authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no citizen was victimised for political reasons.
