Following the disrespect meted on the number one sports writer in Nigeria, as well as an assault ion its member, Idris Dari of FRCN, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), is maintaining a boycott on all activities of the Kaduna Polo Club
.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Shehu Abdullahi and Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, its chairman and Secretary respectively, dated Monday October 20, 2025.

SWAN said that the management of the polo club, even though they were communicated to in writing, were too proud to apologize

“We are informing all sports writers worldwide that Kaduna Polo Club has chosen not to be media friendly, hence the boycott of their activities during the last edition,” the statement said.

It explained that security personnel of the club man handled Idris Dari, who is a reporter for FRCN, as well as the Financial Secretary of the chapter.

“Same day, our well respected National President, who was at the Polo Club was also humiliated, a development we cannot sit and watch without taking action.

“We are calling on all Sports Editors, as well as other colleagues to in solidarity, keep the Polo tournament stories under their drawers until the Kaduna Polo Club management does th
