The Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Dr Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, has been hailed for leading what many describe as one of the boldest reform drives in the corporation’s history.

The Youth Association of Agriculture Forum (YAA), in a statement on Tuesday by its Convener, Dr Yusuf Adams, praised Danfulani’s proactive efforts in building a stronger safety net for Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

According to Adams, the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) is witnessing a transformation under Danfulani’s “visionary and reform-minded leadership,” which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural revitalisation agenda.

Since assuming office in May 2025, Danfulani has introduced a raft of measures aimed at strengthening food security, improving climate resilience, and unlocking new opportunities in the country’s agribusiness landscape.

The reforms, the YAA noted, reflect Tinubu’s broader commitment to inclusive rural growth through effective agricultural insurance coverage for crops, livestock and farming infrastructure.

Under Danfulani’s watch, NAIC has expanded coverage to previously underserved farming communities and cooperatives. The corporation has also introduced technology-driven risk assessment tools to fast-track claims processing and improve accuracy.

In addition, NAIC has begun partnerships with state governments and private stakeholders to broaden its impact, while launching farmer education programmes to deepen awareness and encourage insurance participation at the grassroots.

Dr Adams said these steps demonstrate a practical shift from policy rhetoric to tangible action, stressing that Danfulani’s leadership is “turning the President’s agricultural insurance vision into measurable progress.”

“As Nigeria charts a new course toward agro-industrial excellence,” he added, “Dr Yazid Danfulani stands as a driving force translating Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda into lasting rural prosperity—one farm, one policy, one future at a time.”
