The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Monday Agbonika, has pledged to track down and hold accountable those responsible for the murder of eight operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Agbonika made this commitment during a site visit to the attack location on Tuesday, which also involved the kidnapping of a Chinese national.

Condemning the incident as “a heinous act that will not go unpunished,” the commissioner expressed his condolences to the NSCDC’s Edo command and honored the deceased operatives as “brave personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.”

“We stand united with the NSCDC in their mourning. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and the people of Edo can expect justice,” Agbonika stated.

In a separate engagement with members of the Chinese community at BUA Cement in Okpella, the police chief assured that efforts were underway to safely rescue the abducted foreign national.

“Our teams are actively working on the ground, and operations have been intensified. We are committed to rescuing the kidnapped individual and preventing any further incidents in the region,” he said.

Agbonika called for calm among local residents and encouraged collaboration by providing timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.

“Security is a shared responsibility. We urge residents to assist us with information. Together, we can overcome the criminals threatening peace in Edo,” he emphasized.
