INEC Reports Over 3.5 Million Online Pre-Registrations in Just Three Weeks for CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 3,544,850 Nigerians have pre-registered online during the first three weeks of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) initiative.

Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, provided this update in Abuja on Monday. He also revealed that 288,614 individuals have successfully completed their physical registration in the past two weeks.

“As of Sunday, September 7, a total of 3,544,850 Nigerians have pre-registered online since the program’s launch on August 18. This figure reflects that 1,709,933 registrants (48.24%) are male and 1,834,917 (51.76%) are female,” he stated.

Further analysis indicates that the majority of registrants, 2,291,809 (64.65%), fall within the 18 to 34 age bracket, while 882,441 (24.89%) are students.

As for the physical registration, which began on August 25, Mr. Olumekun noted that 288,614 individuals had registered in person by September 4, with 132,634 (45.96%) being male and 155,980 (54.04%) female. Among these, 215,414 (74.64%) are aged 18 to 34 and 114,150 (39.55%) are students.
