The Nigerian Army has neutralised 15 terrorists, detained 42 suspects, and rescued 30 individuals kidnapped during recent nationwide operations.

A trusted source at Army Headquarters reported on Sunday that these coordinated actions took place across the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-West, and South-South regions.

The source noted that troops successfully thwarted planned assaults by ISWAP and Boko Haram in Borno and Yobe states, particularly in Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba.

During the operations, 15 terrorists were killed, while others fled, abandoning rifles, ammunition, grenades, explosives, motorcycles, and communication devices.

In Kaduna State, collaborative efforts with police and other security agencies resulted in the arrest of 15 suspects linked to drug trafficking. Additionally, 25 suspects were apprehended in Bayelsa State and two in Delta State for involvement in oil theft.

In Benue State, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke rescued 27 kidnap victims in Amoda, while three others were liberated in separate operations in Borno and Sokoto states following fierce gun battles with terrorists.

Furthermore, troops discovered and dismantled illegal crude oil bunkering sites in Imo, Rivers, and Delta states, recovering thousands of litres of stolen petroleum.

In Ogun State, a drug syndicate was intercepted with a substantial quantity of cannabis.

The source reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s dedication to ensuring national security and underscored the crucial role of inter-agency cooperation in addressing terrorism and criminal activities. These operations also aim to create safer environments conducive to agricultural productivity, in line with the Federal Government’s food security objectives.
