Gunmen believed to be bandits have kidnapped the Village Head of Bauda within the Maro Community in the Kufana Chiefdom of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The occurrence took place in the early hours of Saturday, 28th June 2025, around 1:00 a.m., when armed bandits raided Bauda village and seized the traditional leader, Mr Obadiah Iguda.

A report presented to the Agom Kufana by the Overseer of Kufana District, Mr Stephen Maikori, revealed that the attackers focused solely on the village head. They left without injuring or abducting any other villagers or stealing any property.

“This senseless act of violence has intensified the atmosphere of insecurity and fear among the residents of Bauda and its neighbouring communities,” Maikori expressed in his letter to His Royal Highness.

The incident has disrupted the traditional leadership framework in Bauda and raised serious concerns about the escalating security crisis in the region.

The Kufana District authority has urged for immediate and sustained security intervention to ensure the safety of lives and property and to avert further assaults.

When reached for comment, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, stated that he would confirm the particulars of the incident before offering a comment.

However, he had not returned the call at the time of writing this report.
