Tech mogul Elon Musk has openly expressed his regret regarding a series of social media comments about US President Donald Trump, signalling a dramatic fallout in their previously strong alliance.

In a statement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, which Musk now owns, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX admitted to overstepping boundaries during their recent online exchange.

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk stated on Wednesday.

This feud marks a significant break in their once-powerful political and business partnership. Throughout Trump’s second term, Musk had enjoyed a close relationship with the former president, even leading the Department of Government Efficiency, which was crucial to the administration’s cost-cutting and deregulation efforts.

Their collaboration not only boosted Musk’s political clout but also enhanced investor confidence in Tesla and SpaceX, both of which thrived under supportive federal policies. However, recent tensions came to light as Musk publicly critiqued Trump, citing “fundamental differences” in their policy approaches and leadership styles.
