Both the United States and Turkey have extended their sympathies to Niger State and Nigeria, mourning the loss of over 150 lives and the displacement of more than 3,000 residents.

In response, President Bola Tinubu dispatched a senior delegation to Niger on Saturday to evaluate the situation and aid in relief efforts.

Garba, during Obi’s visit to the Government House in Minna, shared that over 3,000 individuals have been displaced, and more than 2,000 homes have been impacted by the flood. The search for missing loved ones continues, with the number of recovered bodies increasing hourly.

Obi expressed his condolences to the Niger government and residents, donating N20 million to the victims’ families. He pledged to visit the survivors in Mokwa soon, stating, “I will personally visit Mokwa to console the families of the victims and meet the survivors during this time of grief.” He also prayed for the souls of those lost and for strength for their families.

Garba, receiving the donation on behalf of the government and people of Niger, thanked Obi for his generous support in this tragic time.
