Against the backdrop of the growing use of religion as a tool for sectional interests in some states in Northern Nigeria, especially during the just-concluded Ramadan fast, the Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA), Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, has emphasized that leadership in a multi-religious, multi-ethnic nation like Nigeria must be inclusive and sensitive to the aspirations of all citizens.

Apostle Kure also stated that when governance leans towards exclusivity, it risks weakening the bonds that hold the people together.

The renowned cleric, who is also the vision pioneer of Throneroom Trust Ministry, Kafanchan, made this known in his Ramadan goodwill message to Muslim brothers and sisters in the country, as contained in a press statement made available to Salama News on Monday.

Citing the trajectory of former interim APC chairman, Mai Mala Buni, as a case in point, Kure observed that if Buni had become president, his leadership would have been shaped by a sectional northern agenda rather than a vision for a united Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the growing influence of some politicians whose body language suggests a calculated effort to use religion as a political tool—not for national unity, but as a divisive force aimed at consolidating power in the North.

Apostle Kure noted that this development is happening at a time when various northern ethnic groups are beginning to assert their distinct identities and demand fairness.

The SKCLA Chairman cautioned that if left unchecked, it could destabilize the fragile peace and trust that many have worked hard to build, adding that this is a time for vigilance and collective responsibility.

He advised Nigerians to ensure that the country’s diversity remains a source of strength rather than division, emphasizing that Nigeria’s progress depends on leaders who are committed to serving all citizens, regardless of faith or region.

While extending his heartfelt congratulations to Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, Apostle Kure prayed that the prayers and sacrifices made during the season would inspire all to work towards a Nigeria where every citizen is treated with dignity and where leadership is defined by service, justice, and fairness.
