In a statement to Elanza News, Rachael recounted the harrowing incident, which occurred on 2nd January 2025, between the villages of Tsauni Majidadi and Gani in the Sanga Local Government Area.

At the time, Rachael was en route to Gwantu after paying a condolence visit to the Arak Chiefdom and commissioning a hospital built by Alhaji Muhammad Umar Numbu.

She explained that a police officer accompanying her and the driver were injured during a fierce exchange of gunfire with the assailants, who opened fire on their vehicle.

The assassination attempt has sparked widespread condemnation among netizens, who have rallied in support of Rachael and prayed for her continued safety.

“The perpetrators will not escape justice. This attempt on her life will inevitably return to haunt those who orchestrated it,” remarked one concerned netizen.
