The Delta Transformation Forum has called on the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hamisu Argungu, to address the alleged involvement of police officers in a land dispute case in Ibuzor, Delta State.

The appeal followed the invitation of Mr. Udeze Anthony, a community elder, by the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Team over allegations linked to a land dispute. Gloria John, a spokesperson for the forum, made the call during a media briefing in Asaba on Monday.

“The PSC chairman had explicitly warned police officers against meddling in land matters after assuming office, yet it seems this directive is being disregarded,” said John.

She accused the Delta and Anambra State police commands of collaborating with the IGP Monitoring Team to transfer individuals to Abuja over cases that fall outside police jurisdiction.

Highlighting concerns about Mr. Anthony’s health, John urged Argungu to intervene urgently.

“Mr. Udeze is very, very unhealthy. The PSC chairman must act swiftly to prevent further injustice,” she stated.

The alleged police involvement in land-related disputes has raised questions about compliance with the PSC’s directives, with critics describing the actions as an abuse of power.

Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
