Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has dismissed the state’s pioneer Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, as part of a sweeping cabinet reshuffle.

The announcement was made in a statement on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Musa.

Aruwan, appointed in 2019 by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, became the first Commissioner for Internal Security when the ministry was established.

Before his appointment, Aruwan served as El-Rufai’s Senior Special Assistant on Media from 2015 to 2019.

His dismissal follows allegations of misconduct. In October, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) directed the Kaduna government to suspend Aruwan and three others over alleged breach of trust.

On November 8, Aruwan faced trial on six charges, including alleged false asset declarations linked to undeclared bank accounts.

Governor Sani has named James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

Other key appointments include Ibrahim Mohammed as Commissioner for Finance, Barde Yunana Markus as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, and Farida Abubakar Ahmed as Executive Director of Radio at Kaduna State Media Corporation.

The reshuffle also includes new senior special assistants: Vitus Azuka Ewuzie (Legal Matters), Francis Damina (Research and Documentation), Victor Mathew Bobai (Public Affairs), Abdulmutallib Isah (Special Duties), and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim (Economic Matters).
