Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has publicly apologized to renowned Nigerian pastor Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries for making unfounded accusations against him.

In a heartfelt letter addressed to the pastor, which she also shared on her Instagram, Halima expressed her remorse. She wrote, “I acknowledge that I made false claims against you and deeply regret the impact of my actions on you, your wife Dr. Lizzy Suleman, your family, and the Omega Fire Ministry community.”

In her letter, she humbly asked for forgiveness, recognizing that her apology could not erase the hurt she caused. “I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, as I was not in the right frame of mind at that time,” she added. “I am truly sorry for the pain and distress I caused you, your family, and your ministry.”

For context, back in January 2023, Halima accused Apostle Suleman of impregnating her, claiming this occurred three times. She stated, “I was unaware that Apostle Johnson Suleman was married; he told me he was separated. I often urged him to reconcile with his wife, but he refused.”

She recounted, “He proposed to me multiple times and even met my parents for an introduction.” Halima described the intimate relationship they shared and detailed her experiences, claiming she was naive and unaware of the deeper implications.

However, in response to her accusations, Apostle Suleman instructed his legal team to file a N1 billion defamation lawsuit against her. His lawyers, Ephesus Lex Attorneys and Solicitors, took the matter to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Suleman’s legal action demands that Halima retract her defamatory statements published on her Instagram and various online platforms. He seeks an order for her to remove all related content and is pursuing N1 billion in damages for libel, alongside a request for a perpetual injunction to prevent further defamatory statements. Additionally, he is asking for N20 million to cover legal fees.
