Mr. Julius Abure, the beleaguered National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has extended a gesture of reconciliation to Mr. Peter Obi and other concerned party members after a court affirmed his leadership.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Abure expressed his gratitude following the confirmation of his leadership by the Federal High Court.

He acknowledged the court’s validation of the Nnewi convention, which reinstated him in his position.

“With deep appreciation and a spirit of forgiveness, I release this statement in the wake of our significant victory at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“The Court, under the guidance of Justice Emeka Nwite, has confirmed our leadership by endorsing the outcome of the Labour Party convention held in Nnewi, Anambra. As a result, INEC is now mandated to recognize Barr. Julius Abure as the rightful leader.

“This victory transcends my personal achievement; it is a triumph for justice and democracy. It serves as a testament to the rule of law and affirms the legitimacy of our party’s leadership,” he stated.

Abure noted that this ruling sets a precedent for future judgments, reflecting the strength and impartiality of the nation’s judicial system.

In light of this, he offered forgiveness to former associates with whom he has had conflicts regarding the party’s leadership.

“Now that the court has delivered its verdict, I extend my forgiveness to those who sought to undermine our party through character attacks and defamation, particularly against my person.

“Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, I forgive them for their actions, as they may not fully understand the implications. However, forgiveness must be coupled with genuine repentance and restitution.

“I earnestly hope that those who have erred will take the time to reflect, approach us with sincere intentions, and reconcile with the party. In doing so, they should also consider making amends for the harm they have caused us. Only then can we move forward, heal our party, and strive for the collective good of Nigeria,” he remarked.

Abure called upon Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s former presidential candidate, to play a role in uniting the party.

“This ruling signals the dawn of a new chapter for the Labour Party in Nigeria. While restructuring and healing are imperative, I assure you that we welcome all members back with open arms,” he affirmed.

He highlighted the party’s commitment to rebuilding its framework, strengthening grassroots connections, and fostering unity among its members.

“We will mend past grievances and emerge more robust than ever. Through our joint efforts, we will continue to advocate for the welfare of the common citizen and the advancement of Nigeria.

“I also want to express my appreciation for the judiciary’s efforts in resolving the leadership crisis within the Labour Party. Their role in upholding justice has been invaluable,” he concluded. *(NAN)*
