In a groundbreaking move aimed at accelerating digital literacy across Nigeria, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has launched the *Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL)* initiative, with a strategic partnership involving the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The collaboration was unveiled during an official flag-off ceremony in Minna, Niger State, where the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, and the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, emphasized the importance of this initiative in equipping Nigerians with essential digital skills.

One of the key components of the DL4ALL initiative is its reliance on the vast reach and energy of NYSC corps members. These young graduates, posted across every state of the country, will serve as the backbone of the program, delivering digital literacy training and conducting sensitization efforts within the communities where they serve. The goal is to ensure that every corner of Nigeria benefits from the programme, aligning with NITDA’s ambitious target of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027.

Brig. Gen. Ahmed reaffirmed his commitment to the partnership, stating that the NYSC is fully prepared to leverage the corps members’ presence in rural and underserved areas. “Our corps members are not just ambassadors of national unity but also agents of transformation. Through this collaboration with NITDA, they will play a crucial role in spreading digital knowledge to communities, schools, and institutions, ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in the digital age,” he said.

The DL4ALL program aims to bridge the digital divide by providing Nigerians, particularly those in rural and remote areas, with access to basic digital skills. These skills are crucial in today’s technology-driven economy, and the program will ensure that even the most marginalized populations are empowered to participate in the digital ecosystem.

NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, reiterated that this initiative is a cornerstone of the Agency’s broader mission to foster a digitally literate nation. “By harnessing the energy and dedication of NYSC members, we are ensuring that digital literacy penetrates every segment of society. This partnership will play a pivotal role in our goal of making Nigeria a global leader in digital innovation and empowerment,” Inuwa remarked.

As the program rolls out across the country, Nigerians can expect to see NYSC members actively involved in organizing training sessions, providing hands-on digital skills education, and raising awareness about the importance of digital literacy. The initiative is set to cover a wide range of topics, from basic computer skills to more advanced training in areas such as coding, cybersecurity, and digital entrepreneurship.

With Nigeria’s youth population on the rise, initiatives like DL4ALL are critical in preparing the next generation for the opportunities and challenges of a digitally-driven world. By 2027, NITDA hopes that a significant majority of Nigerians will have the digital tools and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy.
