The Oodua Integrity Group has urgently called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to address a serious breach of directives by officers at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.
The group alleges that despite the IGP’s explicit order to transfer the case of Jude Ozoemena to the Anambra Police Zone 13, officers at the FCID have ignored this directive, leading to the suspect’s continued detention in Abuja.
In a letter dated July 4, 2024, signed by the Principal Staff Officer 2 at the IGP’s office, the Oodua Integrity Group highlights that Sergeant Stanley and his team leader have obstructed the case’s progress.
This situation has escalated with the suspect being charged in an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court as of September 10, 2024.
The group has raised concerns about possible bribery and external influences affecting the case’s handling.
The group has also reached out to the head of the police legal team, urging immediate intervention from the IGP to ensure proper adherence to orders and uphold the integrity of the force.
