The Conference of Patriotic Nigerians (COPAN) has urged the public, particularly opposition groups, to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors regarding Chief Ajuri Ngelale’s current status.
Contrary to social media speculations, COPAN clarifies that Ngelale has not resigned as the presidential spokesperson but has instead taken an indefinite leave of absence due to pressing personal and health issues.
Barrister Uchenna Odieli addressed concerns raised by some news outlets, emphasizing that Ngelale’s leave was formally requested and approved by the Chief of Staff to the President.
Odieli drew parallels with past global instances, such as former US President Joe Biden’s temporary delegation of duties due to health reasons, to highlight that Ngelale’s situation is not unprecedented.
COPAN reassures that the rumors suggesting a rift between Ngelale and the administration are unfounded and should be disregarded.
They expressed confidence in Ngelale’s continued commitment to his role and wished him a swift recovery.
The organization called on all Nigerians to focus on supporting one another and to avoid spreading misinformation during this period.
