This announcement follows a recent State Security Council meeting chaired by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

During the meeting held on August 5, 2024, in the government house’s council chamber, Information and Internal Security Commissioner Prof. Usman Tar detailed the resolutions made by the council after a comprehensive review of the state’s security situation. The review focused on events occurring from August 1 to 5, leading to significant decisions aimed at enhancing public safety.

Prof. Tar emphasized that one of the key resolutions was to closely monitor and regulate the transport of unaccompanied children to Maiduguri. Moving forward, only those children identified as having proper parental or pastoral care will be permitted entry into the state capital. This measure aims to prevent potential exploitation and ensure the children’s safety.

He further assured that the Borno State Government remains dedicated to supporting security agencies in their efforts to maintain law and order across the region. The council also stressed the urgency of expediting the prosecution of arrested criminals to enhance community safety.

Moreover, the commissioner highlighted the need for a specialized juvenile justice system, instructing the Ministry of Justice to develop one immediately. This initiative aims to ensure that juvenile cases are handled sensitively and appropriately.

Prof. Tar concluded by urging residents to collaborate with security forces by providing local intelligence, which is crucial for maintaining peace and stability in Borno State. The government remains committed to fostering a safe environment for all its citizens, particularly the most vulnerable.
