The National President General of Ohanaeze Youths Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, has commended Ndigbo for not joining the ongoing hunger protests in some other states and the FCT.

Elanza News reports that the #EndsBadGovernance protests against the Tinubu administration are demanding a reduction in food prices, the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, and a reduction in the cost of governance, among other things.

Igboayaka, in a statement sent to ELANZA News on Saturday, said the nationwide protest tagged “Days of Rage” has shown that Ndigbo possess deep unity. He added that Ndigbo are becoming wiser with a deep sense of history regarding national politics.

He explained that from time immemorial, all efforts by Ndigbo to make Nigeria work have been misinterpreted or seen as antagonistic to the non-existent Nigerian unity championed by the West and Northern Nigeria. Ndigbo have always been antagonized in Nigeria for any slight move.

According to him, any political step taken by Ndigbo is seen as suspicious by those cohabiting with the Igbo. Ndigbo are the most suspected tribe in Nigeria. Yet, those who are suspicious and uncomfortable with Ndigbo have not joined the call for a referendum in
Nigeria or supported Ndigbo to secede.

The president noted that calling on Ndigbo to join the protest is not a gesture of love but an act of conspiracy to lure Ndigbo into a bloodbath.

No tribe has cried or lamented for Ndigbo except during the 2024 “Hunger Protest” when they remembered to cry and lament why Igbos are not joining the protest. However, Ndigbo have been protesting, marginalized, maimed, killed, and subjected to the worst form of injustice, while other tribes stand idly by.

For those who care to know, the silence of Ndigbo on the ongoing nationwide protest is also a form of protest; we have simply chosen the wisest way to protest.

“The 1st of August 2024 was the most peaceful day in the history of the Southeast since 2015 when former president Muhammadu Buhari came to power with the project of causing carnage in the Southeast, demonizing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and labeling them a terrorist organization.

“I want to advise any Igbo person living outside Alaigbo who might be tempted to join the protest to reconsider, because the chances of the person becoming a sacrificial lamb are 100% guaranteed.

“I therefore remind the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure the adequate protection of lives and properties of Ndigbo living outside Alaigbo.

“I advise protesters to shun any plans of looting, because such criminal acts against Igbo shops or properties will be resisted with every necessary means, including the use of lethal force against the criminal protesters in disguise.”

As we reflect on the over three (3) years of incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the DSS dungeon under the former president Muhammadu Buhari’s ruthless and bloodthirsty government.

“We earnestly hope for his release by the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
