The former NNPCL staff, Prof. Kailani Muhammad, claims that those calling for the removal of Mele Kyari are motivated by the loss of their illegal sources of wealth due to Kyari’s actions.
Prof. Kailani made this statement while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday.
He said these individuals are fighting tooth and nail to remove Kyari and install a stooge to serve their interests, to the detriment of the NNPCL and the country.
According to him, “I experienced the same thing while I was a senior staff at the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (KRPC). Because I stood against the management to do the needful, I was forced to retire prematurely in 2002.
“It is like in a war situation where those who lost out ran away terrified and wet their pants backstage. Now, they are singing worthless songs of discord from their backyard.
“We know that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is eager to achieve the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, will not listen to them because he values result-oriented and productive personalities, which Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, represents.
“This sponsored group has compacted itself into a campaign of hatred because Kyari stands on the platform of justice for the Nigerian nation. They indulge in busybody activities and accuse Mele Kyari of sabotaging local refineries, including the Dangote Refinery.
They are calling on President Bola Tinubu to sack an economic transformer, a non-tribalistic citizen, and an incorruptible Mal. Mele Kyari.
“They need to tell Nigerians the hidden truth about why they want Kyari out. It is absurd and ridiculous.
“They are making wild allegations about the refineries, of which they do not know the technicalities involved in their operations. To me, it sounds like the rumblings of a lunatic.
He said on many occasions, Kyari has been called to the United Kingdom by such people and offered huge sums of money to reverse some of his reform policies, but he declined for the love of his country.
Speaking on his achievements, Prof. Kailani said Kyari’s uncompromising stand and zeal underscore his commitment to transforming NNPC into a more efficient, transparent, and commercially viable entity.
“It is in view of these monumental achievements of Mele Kyari as GCEO that one is inclined to see the so-called ‘400 Ethnic Nationalities Leaders’ sponsored protests as the handiwork of mischief-makers.
“Definitely, Mele Kyari’s reforms have cut off the scavenging landscape from NNPC’s operations. There is every indication that those calling for the sack of Mele Kyari have grudges against him because he made them lose their illegal sources of wealth.”
