NDLEA Apprehends 4, Seizes 2,025 Explosives In Niger, Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully arrested four suspects involved in the possession of 2,025 improvised explosive devices (IED) materials.

In a recent development, NDLEA officers, operating along the Agaie – Lapai road in Niger, intercepted a Toyota hummer bus with the plate number AGL 905 XX. Two individuals, Abdulrauf Adeyemi (46) and Asmiyu Rahim (45), were apprehended while transporting the IED materials.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Husaini Abdullahi (25) at the Sokoto main market in Sokoto and Nazifi Abdullahi (37) at the Naibawa Motor Park in Kano.

Retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, the Chairman of NDLEA, has ordered that all four suspects, along with the explosive materials, be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.

In a separate incident, Muhammad Lawal (42) was caught with 1,000 Ampoules of Pentazocine injection at the Central Market Motor Park in Katsina State.

Additionally, NDLEA officers recovered a total of 105kg of cannabis from a house in the Obola community, Owan West LGA, Edo. Gloria Oris, a suspect, was apprehended during the raid.

In Kwara state, Abdulganiyu Karaman (55) and Sunday Abel (37) were arrested in Boriya, Baruten LGA, and Offa, respectively, for possessing 83kg of cannabis and Tramadol.

Furthermore, in Yobe, a shipment of 91.1kg opioids and 13kg of cannabis destined for Maiduguri, Borno, was intercepted. The drugs were concealed within compartments of a petrol tanker along the Potiskum-Damaturu road. The driver, Ismaila Ali, was promptly apprehended by NDLEA officers.

The NDLEA said it remains committed to its ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, with various commands across the country conducting sensitization lectures for students and teachers in schools such as GGSSS, Malumfashi, and GGSSS, Daudawa, both located in Katsina State, among others.
