In response to the ongoing insecurity issues in Southern Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has appointed a 10-member committee tasked with facilitating the resettlement of displaced communities.
Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe inaugurated the committee on Monday, following a recommendation from the State Security Council made on November 8, 2023.
The committee, led by the deputy governor, aims to address the challenges faced by communities displaced by violence in the region.
During the inauguration, emphasis was placed on the committee’s role in assisting those affected by displacement, acknowledging the urgent need to address their needs and ensure successful resettlement.
The committee’s focus includes developing comprehensive plans to enhance access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities for the displaced communities.
The governor stressed the importance of engaging the affected populations in decision-making processes, underscoring the necessity of adopting a participatory approach.
In line with this approach, the government plans to leverage expertise and resources through collaborations with various stakeholders, including non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations, and humanitarian agencies.
Governor Sani expressed confidence in the committee members, citing their experience and commitment to achieving the established objectives.
The committee comprises key government officials and representatives from local government areas affected by the displacement crisis.
