Madam Patience Key, a female aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), on Saturday formally declared her intention to run for the 2024 Edo governorship election in the state.

Key, who announced her intention at the PRP secretariat in Benin, said she joined the race to add value to the state through collective engagement with the people.

She disclosed that human capital development will be one critical area her administration would focus on to better the lives of every Edo citizen if elected.

She said “human capital development is one critical area I will focus on. The human capital development will be by treating human beings right.

“Still on human capital development, we will look at Education and build vocational skills which I call professional academy because in America, skills drive wealth.

“My human capital development policy will start from when a child is born because that is when you shape them.

“We need to build talents and create an enabling environment for Small businesses to thrive because business of government is to create enabling environment.

“I will be running a model of government that would work with the private sector, SMEs to grow the Edo economy.

The Aspirant said she wants a situation where there will be a little divide between the rural and urban economy in the state.

Key, a former chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora, United States of America, noted that there was no reason to seek greener pastures abroad, adding that there are greener pastures here in Edo.

“Edo gave me everything I needed to grow in life before I left for the United States. So there are greener pastures and enjoyment here too,” she added.

Also Speaking, the State PRP Chairman, Dr. Greg Igbinomwahia, stated that Edo needed a change of Party, having been governed by APC and PDP without the desired development.

According to him, Edo people have to take a position and vote PRP, the right party that will give the people hope.(NAN)
