In a startling incident, unidentified gunmen targeted the Adamawa State Police Headquarters in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, instigating panic among Yola residents during the early hours of Wednesday.

Amidst the chaos, State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the assault, ensuring that the situation was swiftly brought under control.

Nguroje disclosed that, although the attack was thwarted, the identities of the assailants remained shrouded in mystery.

“The assault was successfully repelled, yet the individuals responsible for it remain unidentified,” he remarked.

Speculation arose, suggesting the involvement of military personnel seeking retribution for the alleged killing of a soldier by the police.

However, the veracity of this claim couldn’t be independently verified.

As the dust settled, the police initiated investigations to unearth the motives and individuals behind the assault.

This incident follows a recent clash between EFCC officials and Nigerian Air Force personnel at the Kaduna Zonal Command.

Last Friday witnessed a confrontation between EFCC officials and NAF personnel, where the latter attempted to free colleagues apprehended by EFCC operatives for forcefully attempting to release fraud suspects.

Credible intelligence led to the initial arrest of five individuals involved in alleged internet-related fraud at a Barnawa eatery.

Among those detained were Favour Itung, Rachael Ande, Zuleiman Haruna, Abubakar Ismaila, and Solomon Olobatoke.

During the operation, six military personnel and two students from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology tried to liberate the arrested suspects but found themselves subdued and detained by EFCC due to the security breach.

The detained intruders included four Air Force personnel – Lawal Abdullahi, Chukwuma Christian, Alfa Suleiman, and Emmanuel Ekwozor – along with two students, Chidera Anuba and Joseph Tokula.

Escalation and Resolution Attempts
Discussions between EFCC leadership and the Nigerian Air Force were initiated to resolve the matter.

However, tensions escalated on November 17, 2023, when NAF officers forcefully attempted to release their detained colleagues from the Kaduna Command.

This complex situation underscores the need for a thorough investigation and resolution to maintain security and order in the region.
