This unsettling development has raised concerns about the safety and security of those involved in the electoral process.

Simultaneously, in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, a boat carrying crucial election materials for Registration Area-17 in Koluama encountered a mishap.

Fortunately, 12 election officials, along with the boat operator, narrowly escaped a potentially tragic fate.

Despite the successful rescue operation, the INEC faced setbacks, losing vital items such as result sheets, power banks, and personal belongings of its staff.

Promptly responding to these incidents, the INEC, through Wilfred Ifogah, its Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Bayelsa, confirmed the occurrences.

Security agencies have been alerted to the abduction case in Sagbama, emphasizing the urgency of addressing such security lapses to uphold the credibility of the electoral process.

With the affected registration areas totaling 5368 registered voters and 5311 collected PVCs, the INEC is actively working to mitigate the challenges posed by these unforeseen events.

Efforts are underway to ensure the election proceeds smoothly in the impacted areas, underscoring the commitment to electoral integrity.

In the face of these challenges, the electoral body remains resilient, striving to uphold the democratic process and navigate the complexities that threaten a fair and secure election.
