Salihu Dantata Mahmud, the former Interior Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media, emphasized that the annual Gani Festival in Kaiama, a Local Government Area of Kwara State, Kwara North, serves to preserve our cherished cultural heritage for future generations.

Speaking on the sidelines at the 6th at the palace of Kiyaru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Bagidi Kiyaru, Mustapha stated, “The essence of the Gani festival is to sustain our inherited culture.
“All the princes and princesses received traditional shavings, especially those who had not experienced it before, a tradition known as Mebona, which was followed by other ceremonial events today.”
Mustapha noted the presence of distinguished guests, including Senator Sadeeq Umar representing Kwara North, Hon. Danladi Dam Baba representing the Kayama constituency, former assistant to the Kwara Governor on local government, Prince Aliru Dansoho Mahmud, Major Yunusa Idris, a military officer from Kayama, and many other dignitaries at the Gani festival.
Prominent traditional title holders, including Sadauna of Kayama, Dan Iya of Kayama, Dan Maliki of Kayama, Dan Amar of Kayama, Dan Galadima of Kayama, Marafa of Kayama, Kiyezide of Kayama, and other notable personalities, graced the event.
