On the fateful day of 12th September, Mohbad’s life was tragically cut short, leaving the nation in a state of disbelief and prompting a nationwide outcry for justice.

The circumstances surrounding his death remained shrouded in mystery, fueling speculation and unrest amongst the Nigerian populace.

As the news of Mohbad’s passing sent shockwaves through the country, the names of Naira Marley and Sam Larry began circulating widely on social media.

Allegations of their involvement in Mohbad’s death swiftly gained traction, leading to a surge of public interest and concern.

Naira Marley, currently residing abroad, vehemently denied any involvement in the tragic incident.

Nonetheless, the Lagos State Police Command, in a late-night announcement, confirmed that Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, had been taken into custody as a key figure in the ongoing investigation.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the official spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, made a statement via social media confirming Sam Larry’s detention and his active cooperation with the police’s ongoing inquiry.

Hundeyin tweeted, “Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, aka Sam Larry, is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation.”

Mohbad, a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Lagos, had made significant strides in the music industry.

He was previously associated with Naira Marley’s Marlian Records but parted ways with the label in 2022.

Mohbad was renowned for his chart-topping tracks, including “Ponmo,” “Peace,” “Beast and Peace,” “Sorry,” “Feel Good,” and the unforgettable “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” with Rexxie, which received three nominations at The Headies Awards in 2022.

After two years with Marlian Records, Mohbad announced his departure from the label.

In a shocking revelation on 5th October 2022, he accused his former manager, Naira Marley, of assault.

Mohbad stated that he intended to appoint a different manager for his music and business affairs, which led to an alleged attack orchestrated by his former boss.

Following Mohbad’s untimely demise, reports emerged that he had filed a police report in June 2023, claiming that Samson Erinfolami Balogun, a music promoter known as “Sam Larry” and a close associate of Naira Marley, had physically assaulted him and damaged his property.

These allegations, which had remained dormant, have resurfaced in light of recent events, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.

This in-depth report sheds light on the unfolding developments surrounding the arrest of Sam Larry in connection with the tragic passing of Mohbad.

As the investigation proceeds, the Nigerian music industry and its fans await answers, seeking justice for a young talent taken too soon.
