A group, the Civil-Military Police and Paramilitary Relations (CIMPARR-Nigeria), has called on the prosecution of popular musician, Seun Kuti, for allegedly assaulting a police officer attached to the Lagos State Police Command.

CIMPARR-Nigeria, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, condemned the assault on the law enforcement officer by the Afrobeat singer.

The statement, which was signed by the group’s coordinator,
Ambassador Green Isaac, stated that assault on police officers is a serious crime that undermines the rule of law and threatens public safety.

It reads in part: “This is unacceptable and the perpetrator of this heinous acts should be held accountable for their actions and prosecuted accordingly to serve as deterent.

“Assault on police officers is a serious crime that undermines the rule of law and threatens public safety. Police officers are responsible for upholding the law and protecting the citizens they serve, and they should be able to carry out their duties without fear of being attacked.

“It is important for public officials and community leaders to condemn such acts of violence and make it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated. This sends a strong message that the community supports law enforcement officers and values their service.

“In addition, those who commit acts of violence against police officers whether it’s in Lagos or any other place in Nigeria should be brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.

“This not only ensures that justice is served, but it also serves as a deterrent to others who might consider committing similar crimes.

“Overall, it is crucial that we work together to promote a safe and peaceful society, and that includes condemning violence against law enforcement officers and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.”
