The Young Progressives Party Candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Federal constituency, Buraimoh Peter Folajimi on Saturday faulted the House of Representatives has proposed a bill to prevent Nigerian-trained medical or dental practitioners from being granted full licenses until they have worked for a minimum of five years in the country.

The bill sponsored by Mr. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson read, “A Bill for an Act to Amend the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act, Cap. M379, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to mandate any Nigeria- trained Medical or Dental Practitioner to Practise in Nigeria for a Minimum of Five (5) before being granted a full license by the Council to make Quality Health Services available to Nigeria; and for Related Matters (HB.2130).

But reacting in a statement personally signed by himself and shared with journalists in Lagos, said the government cannot impose things on its people, stating that it would create hardship for Nigerians.

In his words, “Some of the policies from the government always make the country hard for people and at the end of the day, you want people to stay back, is not possible.”

He also faults the government’s style of leadership, explaining that we have poor leadership in this country and that is one of the problems that made a lot of Nigerians leave the country for their country.

“What is happening in this country is frustrating and it seems our leaders are not doing anything good about it.

“Our leaders are not the ones facing the reality of hardship. If we make all these positions unattractive I think our leaders won’t have the opportunity to steal money and that is how we can have good leaders in this country.

“We should have this position less attractive so that we can have genuine people who would want to work for the betterment of this country, Buraimoh said.”
