The Kaduna-South Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate, Bar. Sunday Marshall Katung has emphasised the need for the region to start promoting cultural festivals in order to attract foreign investors.
Katung stated this on Friday when he enterfaced with the leadership of over 55 ethnic nationalities in Zonkwa, the headquarters of Zango Kataf Local Government Area to solicit for their support ahead of the February 25th general elections.
The Senatorial hopeful challenged all Community Development Associations in the Area to begin to think of possible ways of hosting such important event, while promising to give them the necessary support.
“He explained that the advantage of such an event cannot be over emphasized as it will bring to bear the cultures of the area and will attract both local and international tourist to the area among other advantages.
While commenting on Sanga and Kauru Local Government Areas respectively, he promised to declare a State of Emergency in the Areas as they remained the Local Government Areas that have experience infrastructural deficit over the years.
” I want leadership of the two LGAs to make a template available as i will not waste time in swinging into action when elected and sworn in.
While apreciating the forum for their unity despite the diversity, he promised to work with them for the betterment of the region.” Katung maintained.
Earlier, some chieftain of the party; Hon Edward Masha, Hon Yohanna Allahmagani and Hon Arabo noted that PDP was the only party that has human face and friendly policies as far as Nigerian politics is concern.
” The PDP has honoured the Southern part of the state in the face of the entire world.
” All candidates of our party are aware of the plights of the people and will do everything to cushion the challenges especially the issue of insecurity that has bedeviled the Area over the years.
Responding on behalf of the Community Development Associations, the leader of the group, Mr Bature S. Likoro commended the Senatorial hopeful for considering them worthy for the engagement and promised not to take that for granted.
While thanking him for his will to develop Southern Kaduna when elected, Mr. Likoro assured him the support of the group and appreciated him for challenging them on the issue of Arts and Culture festival which according to him the CDAs will not sleep over the idea.
