The out-going Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edwin Ugwuja has handed over the affairs of the State Command to Yakubu Ibrahim posted from NSCDC Headquarters, Abuja.
Addressing the Officers and men of the Command at the State Command Headquarters in Jalingo during a Handing and Taking-over ceremony, Commandant Ugwuja lauded the Officers for cooperation through out his stay with them.
“I want to say, in the course of my duties, I must have stepped on some toes, knowingly or unknowingly, that’s part of the job, if I don’t step on toes, the job will not move”,
“But I want to urge you now to forgive me while assuring you that I have also forgiven those who offended me”, he said.
Introducing and describing his Successor as a hard working man, who according to him was posted from the Department of Works and Housing, NSCDC headquarters, Abuja, Ugwuja enjoined the Officers to extend their hands of fellowship to the new Commandant even better than they did to him.
To his Successor, Ugwuja advised him to complete the on-going Office Complex situate at the Command headquarters in Jalingo before his exit.
He however, handed over the NSCDC Service Flag to his Successor, Commandant Yakubu Ibrahim describing it as a Flag for continuity.
In an interview shortly, the out-going Commandant, Edwin Ugwuja told Yakubu Ibrahim that Taraba is a peaceful State to work and live in, adding that he must not be ignorant of the enormous challenges of insecurity ranging from kidnapping, armed banditry, illegal mining, among others.
He charged him to enjoy the existing synergy put in place by his administration and sustain it and that he should use his God-given wisdom to discharge his duties and face the enormous challenges with a view to surmounting them by God’s Grace.
Also speaking in an interview shortly, the new Commandant, NSCDC Taraba State Command, Yakubu Ibrahim pledged to build on the already established legacy by his Predecessor.
“My Predecessor has done so well. On my own scope, I will not only sustain the good work he has done but I pledge to improve on it”,
“The Corps is saddled with the responsibility of securing lives and property so that at the end of it all, we will save the environment and make it more peaceful for the citizenry”,
“The task of securing lives and property is a continuous one and very daunting and must not be left in the hands of one Security Agency alone. We will strategize and liaise with others so that at the end of the day, we will have a good story to tell”, he said.
Commandant Yakubu Ibrahim added that with the efforts of the Officers and men of the Command and in collaboration with other Security Agencies, the people of the State will sleep with their two eyes closed.
