The African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, says the party will intensify grassroots mobilisation as it prepares for the 2027 governorship election.

Shinkafi stated this in Abuja during an interview with journalists ahead of the planned inauguration of the ADC presidential and governorship campaign offices and a stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for next month

INEC has published Shinkafi’s name as the ADC governorship candidate for Zamfara.

He said the party would take its campaign to communities across the state, explain its programmes to voters and seek their support ahead of the election.

“As a journalist, you understand these things more, and I am sure you are aware that the wind of change is blowing, especially in the northern part of this country,” Shinkafi said.

The candidate, however, avoided making specific predictions about the outcome of the 2027 election.

“I will not sit here and give you statistics of what is going to happen in the election, but I am assuring you that we are going to go out and mobilise seekers for support,” he said.

Shinkafi said the ADC would focus on engaging voters directly rather than relying solely on political structures or prominent stakeholders.

According to him, the party would explain its programmes and convince residents to support its candidates across the ballot.

“We will tell our people what the ADC will do for them and explain what we want to do for them,” he said.

“I am sure we are going to convince them to come out en masse and vote for the ADC from top to bottom, irrespective of whatever critical stakeholder is there.”

“That, I am assuring you,” he added.

The planned campaign office inauguration is expected to provide the party with a platform to strengthen its organisational structure and coordinate its mobilisation efforts across Zamfara.

Shinkafi’s comments come as political parties step up preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the ADC seeking to build its presence at the grassroots.

The candidate has also previously called for an issues-based campaign, identifying security, education, healthcare, agriculture and employment among the areas he says require attention in Zamfara.

He said the ADC would continue engaging voters on its programmes and seek their support across the state.

The party’s mobilisation, he maintained, would be centred on direct engagement with the electorate as the 2027 contest draws closer.
