The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has congratulated the Dangote Group on its Initial Public Offering, describing the development as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s capital market.

Badejo-Okusanya said the IPO would help boost investor confidence in the Nigerian economy, while reaffirming the NBA’s support for legitimate investment and economic growth.

She commended the Dangote Group for its contributions to the economy through investment, enterprise, job creation and expansion of productive capacity across key sectors.

The NBA president said sustained investment by businesses was critical to building a stronger, more resilient and competitive economy.

“Nigeria’s economic transformation will not be driven by government alone,” she said.

“It requires businesses willing to invest, innovate, create jobs and build for the future.”

Badejo-Okusanya said lawyers had an important role to play in creating an environment where businesses and investors could operate with confidence.

“Our role as lawyers is to help create and sustain the legal and institutional environment in which such enterprise can thrive,” she stated.

She reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting the rule of law and an enabling business environment that encourages legitimate investment.

According to her, sound legal frameworks, regulatory compliance and certainty were necessary to protect commercial interests and strengthen investor confidence.

“Lawyers have a critical role in facilitating economic growth by providing sound legal frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance and creating the certainty and confidence required by businesses and investors,” she said.
