The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, GCON, has hailed the Court of Appeal’s decision to overturn a Federal High Court ruling that had sought to deregister his party.

In a resounding endorsement of the judiciary’s integrity, Senator Mark characterised the appellate judgment as a watershed moment—not merely for the ADC, but for Nigeria’s democratic trajectory, constitutional governance, and the primacy of the rule of law.

“The verdict is a reassuring reminder that our judiciary can still rise above pressure and protect democracy, political pluralism, and the constitutional rights of citizens and political parties,” Senator Mark declared.

He contended that the initial attempt to deregister the ADC constituted a direct assault on multiparty democracy and an unwarranted infringement upon Nigerians’ constitutional right to freely associate and engage in political participation.

The former Senate President commended the appellate justices for their courage, impartiality, and unwavering fidelity to justice, asserting that the ruling had significantly bolstered public confidence in the nation’s democratic institutions.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Senator Mark urged ADC candidates, members, and supporters nationwide to remain resolute, united, and singularly focused on the party’s mission: rescuing Nigeria through purposeful leadership and exemplary governance.

He emphasised that this legal triumph should galvanise party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation and redouble their efforts towards electoral success in the 2027 general elections.

“Our attention now returns fully to building a stronger, more united, and people-oriented political platform that will offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027,” he affirmed. “We must remain steadfast, disciplined, and committed to the task ahead.”

Senator Mark reaffirmed the ADC’s unwavering dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and peaceful political engagement, assuring Nigerians that the party would continue championing policies that advance national unity, security, economic prosperity, and social justice.
