The Security and Public Affairs Analysts Forum has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the rescue of 176 residents allegedly abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The forum said the victims, comprising mainly women and children, had remained in captivity, urging the Federal Government to replicate the efforts that secured the recent release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the forum’s Interim President, Comrade Salihu Dantata Mahmud, said the continued captivity of the victims demanded immediate attention from the nation’s security agencies.

He said, “We need to return to the drawing board and ensure that the victims are rescued in the same way the Oyo victims were freed. We commend the Commander-in-Chief for living up to expectations, but the Woro victims, who are mainly women and children, should also be rescued without delay.”

Mahmud expressed concern over what he described as worsening insecurity across the Borgu axis, covering Kaiama, Kainji, Baruten and Illo in parts of Kwara, Niger and Kebbi states.

According to him, the presence of military formations, including the Air Weapon School and two battalions, has yet to stem the activities of armed groups operating within the area.

He called on the Federal Government to strengthen security operations through improved surveillance, intelligence gathering, regular patrols and the deployment of combat-ready personnel to restore confidence among residents.

The forum also alleged that the Mokwa-Kainji road had become largely deserted as motorists feared attacks by suspected terrorists operating in the forests around Zungurma, Ibbi and Sabon Fegi.

Appealing directly to the President, Mahmud said, “Mr President, we know you can do it. Please come to the rescue of the 176 abducted Woro victims.”

The forum urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the abductees and improve security across the affected communities.
