Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani briefed journalists at the scene on Monday, confirming that the raid was triggered by actionable intelligence regarding suspicious activities in the area. Victims, trafficked from various parts of the state, were uncovered during the operation.

Preliminary investigations reveal that one victim was lured with a false employment offer, only to be subjected to sexual exploitation and forced prostitution over several months. She reportedly endured daily abuse before escaping and wandering until she encountered law enforcement. Her testimony subsequently led operatives to the remaining eleven victims.

One of the rescued minors is currently receiving medical attention, while all twelve girls have been placed in protective custody. Two suspects have been apprehended, and a manhunt is ongoing for other members of the trafficking ring.

Mr Tijani urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements, stressing that community collaboration is vital in combating human trafficking. He reaffirmed the command’s resolve to work with relevant agencies to secure justice for the victims and prosecute all perpetrators, pledging sustained efforts to rid the state of organised criminal activities.
