Lokoja, Kogi State – Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, have been arrested over the death of a 300‑level Biochemistry student, David Solomon.

The Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Usman, disclosed this on Saturday during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Lokoja. He assured the parents that the killers would face the full weight of the law.

Prof. Usman said the university’s internal security team apprehended the suspects within two hours of the incident. “They were subsequently handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution,” he added.

The Vice‑Chancellor noted that the university is working closely with security agencies to ensure a thorough inquiry and to identify all persons directly or indirectly involved. He described the death as painful and unacceptable, stating that it had thrown the entire university community into mourning.

Prof. Usman reiterated the institution’s zero‑tolerance policy towards cultism, violence, criminality and any other anti‑social behaviour that endangers lives on campus. Surveillance has been intensified, and existing security measures within and around the campus have been strengthened to prevent a recurrence. Additional security reforms are expected in the coming days.

He also commended Governor Ahmed Ododo, traditional rulers and security agencies for their support in maintaining peace and order in the university community.

Responding, the victim’s father, Mr Solomon Idachaba, thanked the university management for the condolence visit and praised the swift arrest of the suspects. He also expressed appreciation for the institution’s commitment to justice.
