Team Nigeria rounded off their campaign at the Ulaanbaatar 2026 United World Wrestling (UWW) 3rd Ranking Series in Mongolia on Saturday, securing one silver and two bronze medals.

The contingent was represented by four female wrestlers: Mercy Genesis (50kg), Tolulope Ogunsanya (53kg), Esther Kolawole (62kg), and Hannah Ojo (76kg).

Hannah Ojo claimed silver in the 76kg category, while Esther Kolawole and Christianah Ogunsanya delivered bronze medal finishes.

Ojo delivered a dominant 10-0 victory over Mongolia’s Tuvshinjargal Tarav to reach the semi-finals, where she defeated India’s Priya 5-1. The reigning African champion’s run ended in the final with a 0-8 loss to India’s Kajal.

Earlier, Kolawole powered to bronze by overwhelming China’s Huan Yang 10-0. En route to the medal match, she caused a major upset, defeating Russian world number one Amina Tandelova 6-0. Kolawole later lost narrowly, 4-5, to North Korea’s world silver medallist Kim Ok-ju.

The tournament, known as the Ulaanbaatar Open, is the third of four UWW Ranking Series events this year. It offers wrestlers crucial seeding points for upcoming global championships.

Team Nigeria concluded the competition with three medals from four athletes. The championship began on 4 June and ended on Saturday.
