The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has declared five prominent Igbo politicians persona non grata across Igboland over their endorsement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.

Those affected include David Umahi, Sullivan Chime, Chris Ngige, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The declaration was made on Sunday in Enugu by the OYC National President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, during a press briefing.

Igboayaka accused the leaders of “political betrayal”, alleging that they prioritised personal interests over those of the Igbo ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said the endorsement of Tinubu was “premature and insensitive” to the economic and security challenges facing the South-East and the country.

“It is a tragedy that individuals who have benefited from the votes of our people are now compromising our future for their personal political survival,” he said.

The OYC also faulted the endorsement in view of what it described as the continued marginalisation of the region and the detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

The group criticised the political records of the affected leaders, questioning their credibility and influence to mobilise support within the region.

It further alleged that the politicians were aligning with the President to avoid possible probes by anti-graft agencies.

The council called for a boycott of their political and social activities across Igboland.

“We call for total social ostracisation of these individuals for their renewed political sabotage,” Igboayaka stated.

He added that the group was committed to a “ballot revolution” in 2027, urging voters to use their Permanent Voter Cards to reject leaders who place self-interest above regional development.

“The 2027 ballot will serve as a democratic resistance against political saboteurs,” he said.
