The Federal Housing Authority (FHA), under the stewardship of Rt Honorable Oyetunde Olubunmi Ojo, is witnessing a transformative phase marked by a commitment to completing inherited projects and launching new initiatives. This aligns seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda (RHA), and the results are becoming increasingly evident.
A Commitment to Progress
Since taking office, Ojo has prioritised a policy of continuity and innovation, ensuring that no project is left behind. His operational reforms have revitalised the FHA, fostering an environment conducive to growth and development. Two years into his tenure, Ojo’s leadership has already begun reshaping the agency’s narrative, focusing on welfare and efficiency.
Central to Ojo’s strategy is the acquisition of land across Nigeria’s 36 states, alongside pilot housing projects in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna. The Renewed Hope Housing Programme is set to expand across all six geopolitical zones in 2026, promising to provide affordable housing to Nigerians nationwide.
Expanding Housing Access
In addition to the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, Ojo is planning to develop multiple hectares of land in Kabuso, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of making housing affordable and accessible while also generating job opportunities and stimulating rural development.
Ojo’s extensive experience in public service and legislative affairs has empowered him to successfully launch projects inherited from previous administrations. His ambition is to eliminate outdated practices, replacing them with a modernised approach using automation and digitisation. This includes the establishment of a laboratory for land analysis, ensuring the suitability of sites for development.
Major Projects and Commissions
Demonstrating his commitment to action, Ojo recently commissioned the Multi-Billion Naira Express View Housing Estate Phase 1 in Lugbe, complete with a standard shopping mall to enhance community safety and convenience.
Not stopping there, he inaugurated additional projects, including new roads in the Apo/Guzape estate and renovations at the Festac Town estate in Lagos and Ibadan. His leadership has also seen the establishment of the Federal Housing Authority Mortgage Bank (FHAMB) headquarters in Gwarinpa, which was completed in just six months. This facility aims to expand official and commercial services to meet growing demand.
Future Developments
With the Renewed Hope Agenda as his guiding principle, Ojo plans to unveil a multi-billion Naira housing estate in Bwari, designed to serve the FCT and beyond. The FHA is also focusing on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of its major estates and offices nationwide.
Given the current pace of development, it is clear that under Rt Honorable Olubunmi Ojo’s leadership, the FHA is poised to create a diverse array of housing estates aimed at combating the housing crisis and addressing high rental costs across the country.
Conclusion
Oyetunde Ojo’s vision and determination are steering the FHA towards a brighter future, characterised by innovative housing solutions and sustainable development. As the authority continues to roll out projects aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, it is set to make significant strides in providing affordable housing for all Nigerians.
