In the address, Governor Fintiri said the move was taken in the best interests of Adamawa and its residents. He described recent political developments as demanding “decisive and strategic” action, adding that there are seasons for political exigency as there are for political expedience.

Fintiri said the decision followed extensive consultations with a broad cross‑section of the state’s communities and leaders. “We have resolved to politically align Adamawa State with the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

He explained that the alignment will allow Adamawa to support and leverage the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, aiming to deliver transformative change across social welfare, infrastructure, housing and inclusive economic development.

The governor emphasised the defection was not motivated by personal ambition or convenience but by a single overriding consideration: the long‑term stability, development and prosperity of Adamawa State. “Trust that this decision is in our collective best interest,” he said. “Wherever we go from here, we go together, with the political strength and structures to add value.”

Fintiri announced that the move includes all 226 ward structures, all 21 local government areas, and both elected and appointed party members. He urged supporters to register en masse with the APC and prepare for a secure future under the new alignment.
