Women, mostly widows from Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba and Akwanga Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State have called on a former beauty queen, Ambassador Beauty Sudar Aliyu to contest for the seat of the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections.
Beauty is a multiple beauty pageant winner and has the crowns of NANS Ambassador, Queen Of Aso and Miss Unity, Nasarawa State.
But the women who want Beauty to go into politics made the call during Youths and less privilege outreach Beauty organised in Akwanga adding that she will impact their lives more if she is in the house of representatives.
They appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State to ensure Hon Beauty gets the necessary support that will enable her get to the House of Representatives.
One of the widows, Mrs Andoka Elijah, said: “Beauty is a God sent to the people of Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba and Akwanga Local Governments. What she is doing for us is unprecedented, we want her to contest in the 2023 general election to represent us at the House of Representatives in Abuja”.
Speaking during the event, Beauty said her motivation to empower women is out of love and concern for them, especially the widows.
“The reason we’re here today is to celebrate women, and in particular widows, women all around the world, especially women in Nasarawa state.
“This is a programme we’ve been doing for three years consistently. And last year, I said women are the lights of the world. Empower a woman, you empower a community, you empower a society and you empower the world at large”.
“As you can see, we have over 1000 women here. We still have some who did not even get some of the items that we shared.
“So the items that we shared today includes rice, wrappers and a cash to support their businesses as well as sowing machines,” Beauty said.
On whether she has a political ambition, Beauty answered in the affirmation but added that her empowerment programme has nothing to do with politics.
“What we did today has nothing to do with politics. I made mention of this when the distribution was going on.
“I know some people will misunderstood this and think our charity is for a political office. I am not doing this because I am looking for a political office.
“The passion I have for women, I want to see them grow. I want to see them better in our society. So this is not for political reasons. I’ve been doing this for the past three to four years. Next year, I will still do and the year after I will still do it by the grace of God, ” Beauty added.
