The fateful day of December 31, 2023, witnessed the tragic demise of Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, a revered 45-year-old Imam in Jakara Quarters, Kano.

Yusuf Haruna, notorious as Lagwatsani, plunged a sharp knife into the Imam’s back during ablution, following a stern warning against smoking Indian hemp around the sacred mosque premises.

The Kano Police Command swiftly responded to the senseless murder, apprehending Yusuf Haruna, also known as Lagwatsani, the 18-year-old assailant from Dala Local Government Area.

Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu’s fatal stabbing sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a determined effort by law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice.

In a parallel development, the Kano Police Command secured a surrender from 12 drummers notorious for promoting thuggery and criminal activities through their drumming.

Hailing from Rijiyar Lemo and Kurna Quarters, these drummers played a role in instigating thugs (‘yandaba) during hunting exercises and related events across the state.

The surrender of the 12 drummers marks a positive turn in the ongoing efforts of the Kano Police Command to curb criminal activities.
