Human Rights Activist and Founder of Human Rights Radio and Television, Ordinary Ahmed Isah have called on the Nigerian government to try the embattled head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari in Nigeria. Ordinary Ahmed as he’s fondly called made the call during his breakfast show, “Brekete family Program”
Kyari has been suspended from the Service of the Nigeria Police Force, following an arrest warrant issued by a US court to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to arrest Kyari who was indicted by a Nigerian fraudster Ramon Abbas, popularly called Hushpuppi in a $1.1 million fraudulent deal against a Qatari businessman.
For the Ordinary Ahmed, allowing the FBI to arrest Kyari whose alleged offense is not related to terrorism, trying him in the US, will be an act of disrespect to Nigeria’s sovereignty. He said that Nigeria haven gained independence on 1st October 1960 is having an independent police capable of trying its police as well as punishing them when found wanting. He believes that while the allegations against Kyari must be investigated, inviting him to be tried outside Nigeria is a deliberate attempt to project Nigeria in a bad light.
